The collection consists of the original black and white paintings for three illustrations in the first printing of Booth Tarkington's novel, "Monsieur Beaucaire": "Monsieur Beaucaire," "Lady Mary Carlisle," and "Monsieur Beaucaire, wary, alert, brilliant." The verso of one of the paintings has a pencil sketch of two legs.
